Miramar Marine Injured In Hit And Run, Police Seeking Info On Driver (Video)

Marine Staff Sgt. John Mihelich was just miles from his house in Temecula on Feb. 7 when he became the victim of a hit-and-run.

NBC Southern California reports Mihelich was on his motorcycle, riding home from his job at MCAS Miramar on I-15, when a pickup truck struck him from behind. Mihelich was thrown from his bike onto the freeway.

Fortunately for Mihelich, a sharp-eyed driver named Ryka Milo pulled up next to the Marine, shielding his body with her car.

Mihelich was not seriously hurt in the crash, which he credits to his helmet and other protective gear. The California Highway Patrol, though, is still on the lookout for the "avocado green" truck that was involved in the hit-and-run.
