This winter has given us so many sunny, warm days we could almost call it beach weather, and the fact we can enjoy the sea and beach in January says a lot about life in San Diego. It also says a lot about how much we define ourselves by our proximity to the ocean — and we're not alone.

A new documentary focuses on a variety of people who have close ties to the sea, including a great white shark researcher, an ocean scientist and a body surfer.

San Diego filmmakers have produced a documentary that asks each of its subjects to describe their connection to the ocean for their film, "What The Sea Gives Me."
