A new KPBS - Competitive Edge Research poll finds most San Diegans are nervous about the direction the housing market will take in 2006. KPBS Reporter Erik Anderson has details.
The survey finds most of the residents polled feel optimistic about the prospects for the local economy in the coming year, but they don't share the same optimism bout the housing market. Pollster John Neinstedt says San Diego's residents are nervous.
Neinstedt: "It's the low income people that think housing prices are going to increase. It's the higher income people, the homeowners, who tend to think the prices are going to decrease. So on both sides of that income scale, they're looking at the housing situation with negative lenses."
Neinstedt says there's little support foot he idea that there's a housing price bubble that'll burst in 2006. He says other findings show that most people are feeling positive about their prospects for the new year.
