State Superintendent Jack O'Connell visited an Escondido school Wednesday and urged the public to support state funding of so-called green schools in California. KPBS reporter Ana Tintocalis has more.
O'Connell made the announcement on the campus of San Pasqual Elementary School. The facility is considered a green school because its designed to maximize natural daylight, improve air quality in classrooms, and increase energy efficiency. O'Connell wants more green schools to be built under a new proposed state bond that sets aside
$1 million for the project.
We want to have environmental incentives so that we're building schools that are energy efficient which in the long term going to save schools much of their need operational money.
