Travelers at San Diego's Lindbergh Field are facing long delays in the wake of the botched terrorist plot in London. Security screeners are forcing passengers to take liquids out of their carry-ons and pack them into their luggage. KPBS Radio's Andrew Phelps talked to people waiting at the airport.
Many travelers didn't get to the airport extra early because they didn't know anything was out of the ordinary. Kristin Bialobock stood in the shade with 13-month-old Genevieve while her husband waited in the colossal line at Terminal 2.
Bialobock: "We fell asleep last night before the news and then this morning didn't even turn the news on because we were getting ready to go pulled up saw the news media and then saw the lines and figured there was obviously something going on."
Passengers like Bernie Teunissen seemed more worried about catching flights than any security threat.
Teunissen: "I think people have grown a little callous to the fears and it doesn't bother them anymore. They've accepted it as a part of life."
Airport officials handed out water bottles to people stranded in line, but everyone had to drink up before they got on board. For KPBS, I'm Andrew Phelps.
