A couple of years ago, the entire nation became aware of San Diego’s city pension fund mess and the corrupt politics behind it. Last year, new mayor Jerry Sanders said he would work to clean up the pension system. He’s proposed a change in the city charter to put all future increases in city retirement system benefits in the hands of the voters. The San Diego City Council put the proposal on the ballot as Proposition B.
The ballot measure asks: should the city charter be amended to require voter approval for any increases in retirement system benefits for public employees? Host Gloria Penner talks to advocates on both sides of the measure.
