Tom Fudge : Joseph Kanon didn’t start writing novels until he was about 50-years-old. But in the few years that he’s been in the book-writing business he’s developed a very good reputation. His book, The Good German, will be released as a film by Steven Soderbergh at the end of this month.
Kanon has made a specialty of historical fiction. And he’s especially fascinated with the years that immediately followed World War II. His latest book is called Alibi , and it’s set in post-war Venice. The Good German takes place in bombed-out Berlin, at the time of the Potsdam conference.
Joseph Kanon will be talking about his books tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center as part of the 12th Annual San Diego Jewish Book Fair.
