Sanders Preps for Next Year's U.S. Open Golf Tourney in San Diego

San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders is off to Pittsburgh Monday for the U.S. Open Golf Tournament. Sanders is meeting with event officials to prepare for next year's tournament at Torrey Pines.

San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders is off to Pittsburgh Monday for the U.S. Open Golf Tournament. Sanders is meeting with event officials to prepare for next year's tournament at Torrey Pines.

Mayor's spokesman Fred Sainz says the tournament could bring about $100 million to the city. But it's about more than just the money.

Sainz : The reason why you want to host such an activity is because it's an investment in getting the city's name out there for folks that would be considering San Diego as a travel opportunity.

Sainz says it's the first time a city-owned golf course is hosting the tournament.
