Inside Sacramento: Healthcare Reform, Iraq War Ballot Measure, Bill Deadline
Tom Fudge: As it turns out, Californians will not be voting on whether to pull troops out of Iraq. The legislature had passed a measure, calling for a voter referendum on whether the U.S. should withdraw its forces right away. But last night, right before midnight, Schwarzenegger vetoed the highly symbolic vote on the war, which would have been held in the February primary.
Meanwhile, it looks like state voters stand a good chance of voting on healthcare reform next year. This news comes as Schwarzenegger says he'll call a special session to pass healthcare reform in the state. Some of the measure’s package probably will need voter approval.
