Hollywood Writers Strike and Economic Impact Looks Bleak
Tom Fudge: Hollywood's film and television industries could face a long and idle winter if producers and writers don't come to some agreement and end a writers' strike that started yesterday. Members of the Writers Guild of America began picketing in both Los Angeles and New York over DVD residuals and compensation for material that end up on the Internet.
Viewers have already seen the impact of the strike. Shows like The Late Show with David Letterman and The Daily Show , both of which rely on current material from their writers, were forced to go into reruns as of last night.
