Tips for Winter Gardens
Tom Fudge: It's winter. Where I used to live, this meant farming and gardening was suspended because the ground was hard as rock and freezing temperatures prevailed. But in San Diego, winter may actually be the best time to grow things. The sunlight is not so overpowering and we actually get a little rain. Of course, we've been dealing with a drought for the past year or two, and it's still having an effect on local plant life. On the other hand, we did get a couple welcome days of rain a week or so ago.
