Tom Fudge : The Museum of Natural History in Balboa Park has many displays that show what life was like in North America during the time of the dinosaurs and early mammals. Now the museum has installed a dozen original oil paintings that illustrate the time. The museum now displays one of the largest original prehistoric mural projects ever painted by a single artist.
The name of that artist is Williams Stout. Stout has an abiding interest in the biology and botany of pre-human and prehistoric times. He may be best known for his work in the film industry. In addition to his mural work, he's been the production designer for many films. He's worked on movies ranging from Conan the Barbarian to last year's critically acclaimed Pan's Labyrinth .
