Tom Fudge : Parents of kids with autism can feel like they've been hit by the plague. In fact, autism has been called an epidemic in modern society. But rather than accept the role of victim, many parents and people with autism are taking steps to counter the stereotype and the sense of victimhood. One of the things that's been done is create the Autism Hub.
The Autism Hub is a product of the Intenet. It's a bloggers' network that was begun in Britain. And it features the views, knowledge and thoughts of many people who either have autism or have autistic family members.
The Summer Autism Conference at the University of San Diego runs June 23-25, 2008. For more information, call 619-260-7585.
Guests :
Steve Dionne , father of a six-year-old boy with autism and a blogger on the Autism Hub.
Bev Harp , a resident of Kentucky who lives with Asperger's Syndrome and a blogger on the Autism Hub.
