African-Americans Find Roots in New San Diego Museum
Audio posted in the afternoon.
Tom Fudge: The history of African Americans in San Diego is certainly not as lengthy as it is in many parts of this nation, but black people have had their own culture in our town for many years. Downtown clubs that attracted top jazz performers. Neighborhoods where black people had their own communities. Today, there remain buildings in downtown San Diego that are filled with stories and memories of the old days of African American life.
Today, Downtown is also home to the Museum of San Diego African American History. It opened and was dedicated just last week.
