Calif. Power Demand Expected to Be High During Heatwave
A California agency that monitors energy use says demand has been below expectations, but is likely to be high during the next few days. California Independent System Operator's Gregg Fishman says cooler temperatures along the coast yesterday and public announcements have kept energy usage down. Fishman says demand will continue to be high for the next few days.
Fishman: A lot of people are going to be using a lot of electricity over the next several days, especially in the peak hours in the afternoon when energy use is really running high. So we are asking people to do what they can to take steps and reduce their energy usage in other ways.
Fishman says CAL-ISO is monitoring the fires in the state. He says the fires haven't had any major impacts on the power grid yet.
