Home sales in San Diego County jumped by more than 56 percent in September compared to the same month a year ago. A real estate information service says prices during the same period dropped more than 30 percent. Dataquick's Andrew LePage says the the numbers relect a positivenote for a real estate market that's been dragging. However, he says the good news is tempered by the nation's financial problems.
LePage: It was the strongest month, for Southern California, since late oh-six, for any month. So that's great, but there's this big fat caveat that people were making these purchase decisions before the worst of the financial news hit us here in the last few weeks.
A total of 3,366 homes sold in September, up from 2,152 for September 2007. The median price of a home in San Diego County last month was $328,000, down from $470,000 in the same month a year ago.
