New San Diego city attorney Jan Goldsmith says he assessing whether to continue to fight the legal battles picked by former city attorney Mike Aguirre, or let them drop.
KPBS reporter Alison St John has more.
Goldsmith took over 16 th floor corner office assigned to the city attorney this week. But he says he’s had little personal help during the transition from former city attorney, Mike Aguirre.
Goldsmith : " He has not spoken with me since the day after the election. We tried to set up a meeting. He has not allowed me on the 16 th floor. Fortunately, we have been able to talk to the individual lawyers in the office, but it has made it more difficult for us."
Goldsmith says he will drop a lawsuit filed by Aguirre recently to establish a foreclosure sanctuary in San Diego. Goldsmith says the State Attorney General has that issue in hand.
But the new city attorney is still assessing the status of the pension lawsuits, which are under appeal.
Aguirre says he is moving ahead on new issues and that his term as the city attorney is a closed chapter.
