Local Orchestra Performs Big Band Sounds With Modern Compositions

Maureen Cavanaugh : North County’s Miracosta College is taking its music students out of the classroom and into the concert hall. Conductor Mario Gonzalez has helped create the Miracosta Latin Jazz Orchestra , an ensemble of both students and community musicians that is blowing audiences away. They've been playing a number of local venues and now we are pleased to have the full 22-piece orchestra with us to perform.

- Mario Gonzalez , director of the Miracosta Latin Jazz Orchestra. He's also a musician and currently plays trumpet in Sheila E 's band.
- Victor Villasenor , celebrated fiction and non-fiction writer and his latest book is called Burro Genius: A Memoir . He is collaborating with the Miracosta Latin Jazz Orchestra on an upcoming performance.
