Author of “Under the Tuscan Sun” Talks about the Travelling Life

Maureen Cavanaugh: Picking up, moving on and starting life over again in some beautiful and exotic locale is the stuff of many mid-life fantasies. While most of us stay at home and dream, author Frances Mayes actually did it.

While the real story of her move to Italy may not be quite as dramatic, or romantic, as her novel "Under the Tuscan Sun," it does prove taking risks and expanding your horizons is often well-worth the effort.


Frances Mayes, author of several bestselling books on Tuscany, including "Under the Tuscan Sun" and "Bella Tuscany." Her travel memoir, "A Year in the World: Journeys of a Passionate Traveller," was released in 2006.
