SD College Instructor Killed In His Tijuana Apartment

Friends of a San Diego college instructor who was stabbed to death in Tijuana Dec. 18 say his body was flown back to the Philippines on Wednesday for burial.

Henry Acejo, 45, was from the Philippines. He taught language courses at three area colleges including San Diego State University.

Acejo’s family was planning to send him money so he could visit for Christmas. Now, they're planning for his funeral.

Found dead in his Tijuana apartment 10 days ago, Acejo was stabbed multiple times.

Ondine Massot, Acejo’s close friend and colleague for seven years, says Acejo lived in Tijuana so he could send extra money to his family every month.

Massot said she’s getting few details from Mexican authorities. She said Acejo was a trusting person who had been targeted before.

“His own roommate stole his laptop and TV, and (Acejo) found them in a pawnshop. When he kicked out that roommate, (Acejo) got beat up the following night,” Massot said.

A special fund is established to pay for Acejo’s funeral expenses.

Students have also set-up a Facebook page in memory of their teacher called “Celebrating the Life of Professor Henry Acejo.”
