Almost two dozen motorists were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving on San Diego County highways and freeways over the first 36 hours of the long Thanksgiving Day weekend, authorities announced Friday.
A total of 23 suspected drunken drivers were arrested between 6:01 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol, which said there were 22 arrests made in the same time period last year.
Statewide, the CHP made 334 DUI arrests compared to 401 in 2013.
The CHP tallies do not include DUI arrests made on city streets and other roadways not patrolled by the state agency.
