Video - First Person To Buy Legal Pot In Colorado? Iraq War Veteran
Thursday, January 2, 2014
The very first person to ever buy legal marijuana in Colorado is Sean Azzariti, a Marine veteran who served two combat deployments in Iraq.
Azzariti told reporters covering his groundbreaking purchase on New Year's Day that marijuana helps alleviate his post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms:
"I'd rather use cannabis than benzos [benzodiazepines] like Klonopin or Xanax. It's a lot more safe in my opinion. It helps me a lot."
Azzariti made history with his purchase of a cannabis strain called Bubba Kush and chocolate truffles that contained THC, according to The Denver Post. Total cost to Azzariti was $59.74, including tax.
Colorado's new law, which went into effect on Jan. 1, allows adults who are 21 years of age or older to purchase marijuana legally, reports Politico.
