San Diego Opera Offices Move To New Location

The offices of the San Diego Opera will be moved to a building around the corner, the company announced Tuesday.

The opera, which nearly closed down in the spring due to financial difficulties, will move from the Civic Center Plaza on Third Avenue to the Centre City Building at 233 A St., Suite 500.

The ticket office will be on the ground floor.

The move will begin Friday, with offices reopening in the new location Monday. The opera's costume shop already occupies the sixth floor.

The San Diego Opera's former leaders announced a plan in March to cease operations, but the company was saved with an infusion of donations and a shakeup of the Board of Directors. The group was criticized for, among other things, being headquartered in a swank office building.

The next season is set to begin in January.
