Marines To Conduct Controlled Burn At Miramar Air Station
Friday, June 9, 2017

The Marines will be conducting a controlled burn and fire fighting exercise at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Saturday morning.
Firefighters with the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Fire Department will be using prescribed burns to remove hazardous growth in an effort to reduce the risk of wildfires.
Marines at the air station conduct these exercises annually when the weather and vegetation are at risk of creating the conditions for fires.
According to a statement, flames and smoke may be visible to the Scripps Ranch community as well as people driving along nearby freeways.
The fire training will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at East Miramar, which is on the east side of I-15.
