The 2020 Campaign Heats Up

The Democratic Party held its modified National Convention this week. With no crowds allowed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, speeches were made in host-city Milwaukee, Wisconsin and around the country. Republicans will hold their National Convention next week to nominate President Donald Trump for a second term in office. This is the unofficial starting point for the home stretch of the 2020 election campaign. San Diego Union-Tribune columnist Michael Smolens talks with us about the state of the campaigns at the local and national levels as voters prepare to make some major choices.
