Fatherhood Dreams

"Fatherhood Dreams" is a poignant and revealing look at the day-to-day lives of gay dads. The documentary invites people into the day-to-day lives of gay dads Scott, Steve, Randy and Drew, who are fathers through adoption, co-parenting and surrogacy.

We'll stay with Steve and his co-parenting partners, lesbian mothers Coreen and Wendy while they are raising two children on an isolated island.

Scott has dreamed of being a father for most of his life. He had to choose between a long-term relationship with a man who didn't want children, and going on a journey to make his fatherhood dream a reality. We'll hear from a surrogate mother expecting Scott's twins.

And we'll visit the house of adopted child's birth family that chose Randy and Drew, a gay family, to be the parents to baby Jack. Randy and Drew are a young, down-to-earth married couple who seem like quintessential "regular guys". But when they pursued adoption, they found out that gay men are invariably at the bottom of the list, if on the list at all. Some private, religion-based adoption agencies won't even consider gay men.

Randy's and Drew's luck changed when they were contacted by Tracy, a thirty-six year-old grandmother of four looking for a home for Jack, the yet unborn infant son of her teenage daughter Corrie.

These men represent a new possibility, showing how in a modern world gay parenting can transform from a distant dream into a reality.
