A celebration and Balboa Park on is the children's writer who created Willy Wonka. Some big boomers celebrities headline and music Festival in Del Mar just two events featured on their weekend preview. Joining me with the details is Nina Garin. Tell us are aboutIt is an upscale Festival . It is geared towards a doll's three days at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The headliners are Aerosmith, Jimmy Buffet, and Jack Johnson. Because it is geared toward older audience, it is not just music, right but There's a whole bunch of other stuff. You will see stage for food and there will be chef competitions chocolate and beer pairings and then we have this great comedy stage where Sarah Silverman is coming, Cheech and Chong, and there's public arts and a relaxation zone where you can go we get your hair blowdried. As you say, it is upscale so what does that mean about the tickets? They are VIP packages were you can have private concerts and luxury hangout tents and accounts years to pick up. Those were $3500 starting and their sold-out. When was the last time San Diego had a musical festival like this? It started last year but it was so new and no one was sure how it would do and it attracted about 15,000 people a day last year. Before Roald Dahl had street scene . Totally different vibe. That was just in the streets and not luxurious but it did bring out some big acts. We had our favorite fashion designer, King I West. So I brought up big acts. With Chan 20 are there any ask that you can rack men. I love comedy. She plays the bar mitzvah boy and for bands at this genius are really fun. We have a clip. [ Music ]is happening this weekend . There is a birthday celebration and Balboa Park on Sunday. Who are we celebrating? It is world dolls one hundredth birthday. It is a giant celebration all over Balboa Park. It is put on by right out loud. Remind us of some of the work of Roald Dahl He wrote Matilda, which is on Broadway. Steven Spielberg did his book the big friendly giant. He did fantastic Mr. Fox, which is one of my favorites. James and the giant peach and of course, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. What kinds of things will people be able to do at the celebration? They are going to be doing all kinds of fun things. There will be a community reading of the twists and screaming -- screening of the witches and Charlie and the chocolate factory. It happened Sunday at Balboa Park. The San Diego Opera has been octave but it opens the season this weekend with a special concert. He is a world renowned Polish tenor. People really love him because he embodies the character. He really feels it. I her San he has performed with the San Diego Opera before? Yes, he was -- A Masked Ball in that same year he saying as a soloist in Verdi Requiem. And this sells out in New York, London, and Paris. We have a clip. A guy named Adam is coming to San Diego to ruin everything. There is this guy named Adam Conover . Kaaboo bills itself as an upscale music, comedy and food festival aimed at an older crowd. It launched in September 2015 and this year features Aerosmith, Lenny Kravitz, Jack Johnson and Jimmy Buffet among many others.
Instead of battling the dust storms of Coachella, VIP attendees are able to watch shows from an on-site swimming pool, lounge in cabanas, get preferred seating and valet parking and more. Regular ticket holders will find various stages located throughout the expansive Del Mar Fairgrounds.

100 Years of Roald Dahl

Celebrate storyteller Roald Dahl's 100th birthday at a community celebration happening throughout Balboa Park.
The author of such favorites as "Matilda," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "James and the Giant Peach" will be honored with film screenings, Japanese storytelling, readings, an organ concert and even birthday cupcakes over at the House of England.
The Museum of Photographic Arts will screen "Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory," while the San Diego Art Institute will show "The Witches." Find a complete list of activities here.

San Diego Opera Presents Piotr Beczala
Music
Polish tenor Piotr Beczala opens the San Diego Opera season with a recital of arias and art songs.
Beczala is considered one the leading tenors of this generation who regularly sells out opera houses in New York, London and Paris. The concert will include works from Verdi, Puccini, Dvorak, Strauss and more. Most recently Beczala performed in San Diego Opera's "A Masked Ball" and the "Verdi Requiem."
