A California congresswoman is accusing white supremacist groups of fueling Arizona's tough new illegal immigration law.
Rep. Linda Sanchez told a meeting of local Democrats in Whittier this week that legislators in Arizona and other states are being approached by organizations that are fronts for white supremacists.
The Democrat from Southern California says these groups actually write laws like Arizona's and want to create a system in which minorities can be legally discriminated.
A spokesman for Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer dismissed Sanchez's allegations. Brewer spokesman Paul Senseman says the governor signed the law because it supports needed efforts by the federal government to crack down on illegal immigration.
