Republican U.S. Senate Candidate Carly Fiorina brought her anti-tax message to San Diego with a stop at Waxie Sanitary Supply company.
The former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, who hopes to challenge Barbara Boxer in November, portrayed taxes as a primary obstacle to economic progress. Fiorina said she favors the continuation of Bush administration tax cuts. She called for an elimination of the inheritance tax. She said that companies that have facilities overseas should be given a 10-year tax holiday if they move operations back to the U.S. Fiorino said improving the economy depends on government getting out of the way.
"It really is that simple," she said. "Californians will reach their fullest economic potential when taxes are reduced and unnecessary regulation is eliminated."
Polls show Fiorina drawing even with moderate Tom Campbell in the Republican primary. Campbell, unlike Fiorina, has refused to sign a pledge to not raise taxes.
