Weather forecasters say temperatures are on the rise in San Diego, so it should feel more like summer by the end of the week.
Temperatures have been five to ten degrees below normal for at least a couple of weeks. But meteorologist Tina Stall, with the National Weather Service, said the low pressure systems, that have kept things cool, are becoming weaker. That means inland temperatures should rise to the low to mid-80s by the end of the week.
San Diego's marine layer of clouds will also become much more shallow. Stall said recent conditions have fit the "June gloom" description, but the gloom can last into July.
"People tend to get caught up in those rhyming phrases," she said. "But the weather doesn't look at a calendar and say, 'June's over so I'm not allowed to be cloudy and cool anymore.'"
She adds that higher wind speeds over the ocean are bringing some heavy surf to San Diego beaches. Waves will range from five to eight feet in the coming days.
