A pair of 2-week old Malayan tiger cubs at the San Diego Zoo opened their eyes over the weekend, but they haven't gotten on their feet yet, a spokesman said today.
The cubs' vision is still sketchy, and the newborns can't walk yet, according to the zoo, but the two, each weighing 7.7 pounds, will eventually grow to about 250 pounds.
The so-far unnamed cubs can scoot around, but they are still dependent on their mother, named Mek Degong.
About 500 Malayan tigers live in the wild, making them critically endangered, according to the zoo.
The zoo has five Malayan tigers. The newborns should be on their feet and playful by the time they make their public debut this summer.
