Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas will unveil a historic photo display tomorrow as part of a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the facility’s groundbreaking.
The event will also feature music by San Dieguito High School Academy students.
Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas, which opened in 1978, was the first hospital in the city. It was originally a convalescent home, offering 60 beds for long-term patients.
Since then, the facility has expanded to become a full-service hospital that serves more than 80,000 patients each year.
Construction on the upcoming critical care building, which will replace the hospital’s current emergency room, is expected to be complete next year.
