Shiite Cleric Calls for Elections in Iraq

Iraq's leading Shiite cleric, Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, continues to demand direct elections in Iraq -- and he wants them to occur before the planned transfer of power in June. U.S. Administrator Paul Bremer says elections would be impractical, noting the country lacks an electoral commission as well as a voter registration system. NPR's Michele Kelemen reports.
