Musharraf overthrew Nawaz Sarif in a bloodless coup eight years ago. Since then, Musharraf has kept Pakistan under military rule.

Sharif has been living in exile ever since. But this past week, he won a significant victory. Pakistan's Supreme Court ruled that Sharif can return to the country.

Sharif says he will return to Pakistan as soon as possible. He says he plans to restore the rule of law and the sanctity of parliament in Pakistan.
