San Diego School Kids Send Thank You Gifts to USS Ronald Reagan

The San Diego Union-Tribune today showcased a small Catholic school in the Ocean Beach community of San Diego, where students collected roughly 200 pounds of supplies to help replenish those of the USS Ronald Reagan crew. As Home Post reported last week, sailors on the USS Ronald Reagan donated their own personal toiletries, clothing, and other supplies for the people of Japan left homeless by the earthquake and tsunami disaster.

According to the UT, the students of Sacred Heart Academy collected "toothpaste, puzzle books, DVDs, trail mix, even Easter goodie bags." The collection drive was started by Mifty Honda, the grandmother of a Sacred Heart student, and the mom of a USS Ronald Reagan crew member. Honda told the UT:

On a somewhat related note, the Navy will hold another informational meeting on Wednesday for family members of the Reagan crew. Click here for details.
