Strong Reaction Continues over Cesar Chavez Ship Naming

I asked, and Home Post readers delivered. So many of you made fantastic comments in response to Rep. Duncan Hunter Jr.'s criticism of the Navy (because of its decision to name a dry cargo ship after labor leader and Navy veteran Cesar Chavez) that I've decided to include some of them in this post. If the comments one-sided, that's because virtually of them were critical of Hunter.

Just a reminder: yesterday Hunter slammed the Navy for naming ships after people (specifically Cesar Chavez) he doesn't believe deserve the honor. He argued the Navy's choices "appear to be more about making a political statement than upholding the Navy's history and tradition."

Today Navy Secretary Ray Mabus is in San Diego to make the official announcement about the naming of the dry cargo ship after Cesar Chavez, so I'd imagine the controversy won't die down anytime soon.

Keep those comments coming, Home Post readers!
