You Could Help Grant a Dying San Diego Veteran's Last Wish

Gizmo
Rancho Coastal Humane Society
Gizmo

A veteran of the Korean War who lives in Alpine is in a desperate search to find a home for his constant companion, Gizmo the Shih Tzu. The veteran's hospice social worker contacted Military.com in hopes a loving family would adopt Gimzo and provide the dying man a measure of peace. The veteran, who chooses to remain anonymous, has no family who can take in Gizmo.

Pets for Patriots, a non-profit group that matches servicemembers and veterans with adoptable dogs, has gotten involved in helping find 7-year-old Gimzo a home, as has the Encinitas-based Rancho Coastal Humane Society. According to RCHS:

Gimzo still lives at home, providing his owner support and comfort in his final days. If you are interested in adopting Gizmo, CLICK HERE for information. Because Pets for Patriots is involved in this adoption, veterans and servicemembers who want to adopt Gizmo qualify for a discount in adoption costs.
