A proposed update to the Family and Medical Leave Act would give military families as much as 12 weeks off from work when their servicemember is deployed on short notice. According to the Associated Press:
And if a servicemember is injured or gets seriously ill, a caregiver in the military family could take up to 26 weeks off from work to take care of their loved one.
