Welcome Home, USS Fort Worth
The USS Fort Worth is slated to arrive in her new homeport of San Diego on Thursday.
According to the Fort Worth's website:
The Navy wives are planning the homecoming festivities which will include the ‘Leiing of the ship’, refreshments and craft activities for the kids. This is one of the few times the ship will physically be in San Diego, as typically the crew travels out to her location to switch shifts.
The ship is the Navy's newest commissioned littoral combat ship, a vessel that's easily maneuverable and designed to sail in shallow waters.
The Navy commissioned the USS Fort Worth September 22 at the Port of Galveston in Texas. The ship set sail for San Diego just days later.
