Air National Guard Jets Collide In Midair, Coast Guard Rescues Pilot (Video)

Two Air National Guard F-16 jets collided in midair Thursday night off the coast of Virginia. The pilot of one of the jets ejected, and the Coast Guard was able to rescue him hours later, according to a Coast Guard press release.

The pilot from the other jet involved in the collision was able to fly his aircraft back to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

A 113th Wing D.C. Air National Guard news release confirms the two F-16C Falcon aircraft involved in the collision were assigned to the 113th Wing D.C. Air National Guard.

The collision took place roughly 35 miles southeast of Chincoteague, Virginia at approximately 10:28 p.m. Thursday. The incident is under investigation.
