From Navy Personnel Command Fleet Public Affairs:
Navy Personnel Command's (NPC) fleet engagement team is scheduled to visit San Diego Sept. 24-26 to meet with Sailors and discuss the latest personnel policies and initiatives impacting the fleet.
"In an information environment where we continually drive our people to online resources, this is an extremely rare and valuable opportunity to meet and speak with those who shape personnel policy," said Capt. Bruce Deshotel, head enlisted community manager, Bureau of Naval Personnel.
Topics during the briefs include: force management; military community management, including the new Career Waypoints information technology system; enlisted advancements, enlisted retention and force stabilization; enlisted community health; an enlisted distribution briefing and review of changes to the Career Management System/Interactive Detailing, detailing timelines and special programs; and a review of the Professional Apprentice Career Track.
"This is a great opportunity to reach out to Sailors and provide not only a wealth of information, but answer any questions they might have to insure they continue a successful career in the Navy," said Deshotel.
Commanding officers, executive officers, command master chiefs and Navy Counselors are also highly encouraged to attend, said Deshotel. "We will provide mentoring for command leadership on current force shaping policy, guidance for improving reenlistment and attrition rates, and career management information, tools, trends and best practices for use in counseling sessions."
The team will conduct the briefings at Naval Base San Diego Sept. 24 and 25, and Naval Base Coronado Sept. 26. Sailors should contact their command career counselor for briefing times and locations.
There is also a spouse and command ombudsman briefing scheduled for Sept. 25.
