A grand jury has voted to indict three New York City police detectives in the killing of an unarmed black man, Sean Bell, according to the Associated Press. The grand jury findings remain officially sealed.
On Saturday, supporters of Bell's family rallied in New York's Union Square.
The officers have said they are innocent, and their supporters noted that an indictment does not necessarily lead to a conviction.
Five officers were involved in the death of Sean Bell, who was shot while leaving a bachelor party at a Queens nightclub.
Prosecutors have declined to speak about the grand jury's work and said its findings will be unsealed Monday.
