Immigration activist Elvira Arellano, an illegal immigrant from Mexico who took sanctuary in a Chicago church, has been deported back to her home country. Arellano was attending a conference in Los Angeles, where she was taken into custody. Arellano stayed in the Chicago church for a year, and has an 8-year-old son who was born in the United States.
