Having finally announced his presidential candidacy, Fred Thompson begins a four-state campaign swing in Iowa, a key primary state.

The actor and former senator was on everyone's mind during Wednesday night's Republican debate in New Hampshire — a debate that Thompson skipped in order to appear on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
