When troops were sent over, one of the first places protected were those that dealt with the production and delivery of oil. In my mind, this further concretes that the invasion of Iraq was nothing more than a power play for the almighty black gold that really runs America.
But that was not the only reason, oh no! You see, America needed a war. It needed the dollars pumped from mindless fighting, death, and the murder of America's youth so the rich can get richer and richer.
But it backfired this time, and it just drove America deeper and deeper into debt.
Don't get me wrong, I support our troops. I come from a military family, and some good friends and family served in Iraq. Nor do I fault the troops over in Iraq for doing their jobs.
No, the sole blame of this rests on the shoulders of those who lied to us, the American people, to go there in the first place.
So, in choosing an American president, I am looking at who can safely get us out of Iraq. Someone who can ease us out WITHOUT completely destroying the country we've torn apart. & Yes, I want our troops out, but I also realize that troops will HAVE to be in Iraq for years to come. To just pull ALL our troops out now would be almost as criminal as our going there in the first place!
So, I'm in a moral quandary. My party wants all our troops out of Iraq, but I know this can't be done. & I personally also want all our troops out of Iraq, but common sense tells me that it'd destroy what little is left of the country. So what can be done?
Once again, I look to the presidential candidates. & I have to trust whomever wins to come up with a withdrawal plan that both lessens the number of troops in Iraq while ALSO keeping the country stable. And right now, as much as I support my party, I don't know if any of the Libertarian candidates can do this.
So, where do we go from here? Me, I'm going to start paying closer attention to the other candidates, and see what happens from here before deciding my vote.
