And another thing I've never understood -- how does it diminish my quality of life, assuming I AM a heterosexual, & (I say that only to not "OTHERIZE" homosexuals) to know that they, too, are now allowed to participate in an outward and visible sign of their inward and spiritual grace? Because that is what the sacrament of marriage is. One proclaims to God (if you are a believer), the State, and your friends and family that you have joined your life, love and body to one another.
In reality, I have never cared to think about what my hetero friends do when they are alone, much less what my gay friends do. The only bed that interests me is my own. & And, by the way, Trina, I never thought monogamous hetero sex was boring.
Ah well, I realized long ago that if there is something that one "hates," it is probably because you don't understand it.
Some people will never agree that "an individual's sexual orientation -- like a person's race or gender -- does not constitute a legitimate basis upon which to deny or withhold legal rights."
& And I will probably hear from some of those people in angry middle-of- the- night responses to this blog. To those respondents I leave the gift of one of my favorite quotes.
Sometimes I go about pitying myself.
And all the time
I am being carried on great winds across the sky
