The San Diego City Council will not resume its regularly scheduled meetings next week because of continuing renovation work in the City Administration Building, council President Tony Young announced today.
The council has had only one meeting since the end of July, and that lasted less than a half-hour. During the break, a project to install fire sprinklers and alarms took over the 12th floor, which includes the council's meeting rooms.
The work is about to move one floor up, where reporters have work space and CityTV, which broadcasts meetings on the city of San Diego's cable television station and website, has its control room.
The council scheduled a special meeting for Sept. 13 at 3 p.m. to take public comment and go into closed session. Other open session items could be added to the agenda by Friday.
The full City Council now won't hold its next regular meeting until Sept. 17.
Budget and Public Safety committee meetings remain scheduled for Sept. 12.
