A spot in Torrey Pines is set to be the fourth and final retail marijuana dispensary allowed in San Diego City Council District 1.
The shop is proposed for a 1,767-square-foot commercial condo in an office park at 11189 Sorrento Valley Road.
Colorado-based STWC Holdings, which also operates under the brand name Strainwise submitted the application. The company has had other business ventures in Oklahoma and Puerto Rico, according to a press release from June. Strainwise President and CEO Erin Phillips did not respond to an interview request.
The project has been going through the city permitting process for more than two years and Strainwise has paid the city more than $56,000 in permitting fees, according to the city's OpenDSD portal.

The city's hearing officer approved the project's conditional use permit on Nov. 20. Opponents have 10 days to appeal that decision to the city's planning commission.
San Diego allows only four cannabis retail outlets per City Council District. Districts 2, 6, 7, and 8 have also reached that cap. The city has already handed out the maximum of 40 permits for "marijuana production facilities," which allow for the plant's cultivation, manufacturing and distribution.
City officials anticipate collecting $17 million in local cannabis business taxes this fiscal year, which ends June 30, 2020.
