San Diego's police department has seen a rash of police misconduct cases this year. One of the highest profile cases involves Officer Anthony Arevalos. He's accused of bribing and sexually assaulting women he'd stopped for traffic violations.
Arevalos is now facing 10 felony charges. But Voice of San Diego reporter Keegan Kyle reports that Arevalos could have been off the streets a year ago. He discussed the case on air today with KPBS Reporter Katie Orr. Keegan's story posted today on Voice of San Diego explains what happened in 2010.
Dumanis, who is running for mayor, would not discuss her decision not to charge Arevalos following the original complaints. And police officials declined to say why the officer was allowed to remain on duty following the serious accusations against him.
