Authorities Friday responded to a report of a possible bomb discovery in a Del Cerro neighborhood.
According to authorities, the incident was reported shortly after 10:30 a.m. in the 5900 block of Madra Avenue.
San Diego Fire-Rescue Department personnel and the San Diego Police Department officers arrived at the scene. A bomb squad unit also responded.
Authorities said they were investigating the possible manufacturing of improvised explosive devices at a residence.
According to Maurice Luque of the SD Fire-Rescue Department, authorities arrived at the home as part of an ongoing investigation. Luque said a man at the center of the probe was arrested Thursday and is scheduled to be arraigned on bomb manufacturing charges next week.
Authorities said the unidentified man will be charged with five counts of possession of destructive devices in a public place and one count of child abuse.
Luque told 10News the man's former roommates reported discovering bomb-related materials, including pipe bombs, at the home.
A next-door neighbor was evacuated, and Luque said the street was closed off due to the investigation.
